When choosing a surgeon experience matters, Mr Wheelton has performed over 1000 hip and knee replacements and typically performs more than 200 per year which is significantly higher volume than the UK average in the National Joint Registry (116). He trained in expert centres throughout Manchester and Lancashire and furthered enhanced his skills, techniques and knowledge by undertaking a fellowship in Toronto, in Canada’s highest volume joint replacement hospital.

Mr Wheelton practices cutting edge techniques to improve patient experience and outcomes. He is particularly interested in enhancing the recovery of his patients to optimise their recovery. Through research and collaboration with surgeons worldwide he has adapted his surgical techniques to reduce swelling post operatively with the aim of producing less pain while you are recovering by following evidence-based methods. He performs minimally invasive hip and knee surgery to achieve this.
